Churches Together in Alresford 


Churches Together in Alresford is a group of churches who work together for the following purposes:

To enable their members as pilgrims together, to explore the Christian faith together, to develop mutual relationships, to seek a common mind, and to make decisions together
  • To encourage churches to worship, pray and reflect together on the nature and purpose of the Church in the light of its mission, each church sharing with others the treasures of its tradition
  • To enable churches to live and share the Gospel, to evangelise together and to take steps towards fuller unity
  • To enable churches to respond to the needs of society and to witness to the Gospel together.

Alresford Methodist Church
St Gregory the Great, Alresford (Roman Catholic)
Arle Valley Benefice (Anglican): St John the Baptist, New Alresford and St Mary's, Old Alresford


CTIA organises and supports a number of events during the year including:

  • 48356491 1149801748517967 3540Good Friday Walk of Witness followed by coffee and hot cross buns in the New Alresford community centre.
  • Lent groups.
  • Carol singing both in New Alresford town and at some of the sheltered housing in the town.
  • Annual weekend away which has been held in Bournemouth in recent years.
  • 57368698 1230925357072272 2848Fund raising and social events to support a charity which we choose every two years.  At the moment we are supporting Winchester Youth Counselling.
  • Prior to this we raised money for Firefly International.
  • A Boxing Day Walk.
  • Collecting for Christian Aid.
  • Thy Kingdom Come

  • Participating in Rotary Internationals annual shoe box appeal.
  • Alresford Basics Bank.
  • We started support for Christians Against Poverty (CAP) in late 2018 as the sponsoring body for Clare Pinniger and Suzanne Hodnett who are beginning to
    build a local presence for CAP.

What is The Arle Valley Benefice? We are four Church of England churches, serving the town of New Alresford and the villages of Old Alresford, Ovington and Bighton.

Individual Churches
Where are benefice churches located?
St. John the Baptist is the main Anglican church for New Alresford
St. Mary the Virgin Church is in the village of Old Alresford
St. Peter's is in the village of Ovington
All Saints is a church in the village of Bighton

Do any of the churches have mid-week events or study groups? 
We offer many groups for fellowship and spiritual growth, including social events, bell ringing, prayer groups, and more. See our Benefice Groups & Activities.

Is there a welcome or newcomers’ program? 
Each church has its own system of making newcomers welcome.  

Do I need to be a member to attend services regularly?  
Not at all.  All are welcome to attend any service.
