Worship in the Community

Bible imageIt is part of our Church mission to support the local community by helping to promote a town in which everyone can flourish, and where people can discover the extravagant love of God.

We run and support numerous events, groups and offer Pastoral care to anyone in need. These are detailed on the community pages in the menu above, so please explore this section.

Supported Housing, Care and Retirement Homes

We visit Bailey House, Ellingham Close, Old Alresford Cottage, Wayfarers Place and Makins Court once a month and offer a short communion service with hymns, a reading and short talk.

Old Alresford Cottage Care Home - 6pm on the 1st Sunday of the month
Wayfarers Place - 10am on the first Friday of the month
Bailey House  – Communion to the Sick - 11.15am on the last Friday of the month
Ellingham Close  – Devotional Service - 3.30pm on the last Friday of the month
Makins Court - First Tuesday of the month

What is The Arle Valley Benefice? We are four Church of England churches, serving the town of New Alresford and the villages of Old Alresford, Ovington and Bighton.

Individual Churches
Where are benefice churches located?
St. John the Baptist is the main Anglican church for New Alresford
St. Mary the Virgin Church is in the village of Old Alresford
St. Peter's is in the village of Ovington
All Saints is a church in the village of Bighton

How do I find out more about each church?

Do any of the churches have mid-week events or study groups? 
We offer many groups for fellowship and spiritual growth, including social events, bell ringing, prayer groups, and more. See our Benefice Groups & Activities.

Is there a welcome or newcomers’ program? 
Each church has its own system of making newcomers welcome.  

Do I need to be a member to attend services regularly?  
Not at all.  All are welcome to attend any service.
