Benefice Groups and Activities

Groups

Becoming part of our church community gives you the opportunity to be involved in the many groups and activities that are part of its life.
 

Coffee Cake & Chat 

Come and join us for coffee, cake and a chat from 10am to 11.30am on the second Tuesday of each month.  We will continue to collect for Winchester Hospice. Put the date in your diary and come and catch up with old friends; share your news and encourage each other. Table Talk

Bring and Share lunch with a topical news discussion in small groups considered from a Christian point of view.  All welcome to come and join this relaxed and informal gathering.  We meet on the third Friday of each month, 12.30 to 2pm. For more information please contact Jackie, t. 01962 732056, Miranda, t. 01962 732064 or Sue, t. 01962 733597


Solos (for those who live alone) 

Come and join us for tea and home-made cake, company, conversation and friendship.  We meet on the third Sunday of each month, 2.30 - 4.30pm in the JPH.  For more information please contact Marion Morley, t. 01962 733921 or Margaret Stewart, t. 01962 735185
 

Men's Supper Club (for Widowers) 

We meet for a meal on the last Thursday of the month at 7pm.  Interested?  Please contact Roger Whiffen on 01962 734045.  
 

Looking Forward 

Looking Forward offers friendship and support group for widows following bereavement. They run a varied programme of activities.  The group meets every Tuesday, 10.30am-12.00noon, currently online. For more information, please contact Sue Clarke, t. 01962 733597, email: sueclarke48@icloud.com

What is The Arle Valley Benefice? We are four Church of England churches, serving the town of New Alresford and the villages of Old Alresford, Ovington and Bighton.

Individual Churches
Where are benefice churches located?
St. John the Baptist is the main Anglican church for New Alresford
St. Mary the Virgin Church is in the village of Old Alresford
St. Peter's is in the village of Ovington
All Saints is a church in the village of Bighton

Do any of the churches have mid-week events or study groups? 
We offer many groups for fellowship and spiritual growth, including social events, bell ringing, prayer groups, and more. See our Benefice Groups & Activities.

Is there a welcome or newcomers’ program? 
Each church has its own system of making newcomers welcome.  

Do I need to be a member to attend services regularly?  
Not at all.  All are welcome to attend any service.
